New Players

Interested in playing for G-dub Ultimate? This page contains all the information you need if you want to come out and play with us this fall.

We welcome anyone who wants to come out and play. Although we make no cuts, we do divide towards the end of the fall season into an A- and B-Team. The A-Team is likely to travel approximately 4 times in the fall season and 5-7 times in the spring season, including the College Championship Series. The B-Team travels 2-3 times per semester. If you are interested in more casual games, you are welcome to drop by our co-ed scrimmages on Fridays at 3:30 at the Reflecting Pool (see below for directions).

No prior experience is necessary. More than two-thirds of our current players had never played organized ultimate before joining the team here at GW. We welcome athletes of all backgrounds, and even people who didn't participate heavily in sports during their high school years. Much of the fall is devoted to teaching not only our system of ultimate, but the basic elements of the game itself (throws, cutting, etc.).

GW is a nationally-ranked program and has a strong history of success in the region. If you'd like to learn more about our history, visit our "About" section.

Here is some other essential information about coming out to play with us:

1)  Getting in touch -- If you didn't get a chance to stop by our table at CI (or if you still have any lingering questions), make sure you go to our "Contacts" section and send us an email, telling us a little bit about yourself and giving us your preferred email address. We'll get back to you as soon as possible.

2)  Equipment -- Incoming freshman may want to purchase cleats before coming to GW, as cleats are somewhat hard to come by in the D.C. area. All of our players wear soccer, football, or lacrosse cleats. Be sure to also bring white and dark t-shirts (no grey - grey is not a color). Of course, bring water to keep hydrated.

3)  Practice Times -- We practice year-round on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 until dark. Be mindful of this when selecting your classes! We also will be practicing once per weekend, so long as we do not have a tournament.

4)  Practice Location -- We practice on the fields adjacent to the Reflecting Pool, between the Lincoln and World War II Memorials. The walk from campus lasts around 10 minutes, but a bike is a good thing to have as it cuts down commute time considerably. Here is a map showing the best ways to get to the Reflecting Pool fields.
